In about a week I will be on my way to Columbia University, where I will begin the next level of my education as a journalism grad student. I’m excited, nervous, worried, happy… everything you can imagine. I’m moving 3,000 miles away to a place I’ve only seen on TV. It’s slightly nerve-wrecking. But that is not to say that I am not excited. Because I am. This is one of the most exciting times of my life and I can’t wait to get to New York and work my butt off and have some fun.
To escape a lot of the worry I have been turning to photography to soothe the soul. I’ve been working at the Reedley Exponent for the past month. Tomorrow is my last day, and I am sad to go. There are some great people here and an excitment to produce good news and a desire to get better at producing news. I did a little bit of everything here, including layout, writing, editing, shooting and even a little tech work. I was lucky to land the gig.
But shooting news has pretty much consumed me the past several months. Yesterday I was able to get and shoot some portraits/fashion pictures with some great models. They were good sports, seeing as we spent the whole shoot waist-deep in the Kings River in Lemoore. It was a nice change of pace and I think the pictures turned out great.
I hope to get a lot more photos up before I leave along with a few more blog post.
